HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A Washington County judge said he will allow a murder defendant to present evidence supporting his claim that he thought the victim was a child abuser.

Wednesday’s ruling helps 20-year-old Alec Eger since the victim’s teenage daughter has recanted her allegations that she was beaten.

Mr. Eger is charged with first-degree murder in the Halloween 2008 stabbing of Billy Lee Black in Hagerstown.

Police say Mr. Eger admitted that he stabbed Black after confronting him for supposedly beating 15-year-old Danielle Black.

Danielle is now 16 and serving a 10-year prison term for soliciting her father’s murder.
