RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Craig M. Burns has been appointed as Virginia's acting tax commissioner.
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Burns' appointment Thursday.
Burns will fill a vacancy left by the death of Janie Bowen on Tuesday.
Burns has served as deputy secretary of finance since October 2008. He previously held positions with the Virginia Retirement System, the House of Delegates Appropriations Committee, the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission and the Department of Medical Assistance Services.
