NORFOLK, Va. | The University of Virginia football team is taking its spring scrimmage on the road.

Officials say the Cavaliers will hold an intra-squad football scrimmage on March 27 at Old Dominion University’ Foreman Field. The Charlottesville school says it worked with Old Dominion to hold its final open-to-public practice in Norfolk in an attempt to foster good will in the region.

Virginia first-year football coach Mike London called the venture an experiment and said that if it is successful the Cavaliers might target other venues around the state in future years.

The Cavaliers begins its spring football practice program March 15. College teams are allowed 14 practices and a spring game. Virginia will hold the team’s annual spring game on April 10 in Charlottesville.
