OPINION:
Sen. Joe Lieberman, Connecticut Independent, has a great idea with his latest bill: Strip terrorists of their U.S. citizenship (“Lieberman proposes to strip terrorists of U.S. citizenship,” Politics, Friday).
Mr. Lieberman’s idea has such merit that any delay in enacting the measure will be an indictment of those dragging their feet. He is leading bipartisan support to use the intent of a 1940 law to void American citizenship for terrorists. The precedent in law shouldn’t even be necessary - we are at war with jihadists.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi claims to be concerned about the constitutionality of the proposal. With the health care bill, she had no trouble voiding the intent of the Constitution and disenfranchising the American people. Now she is wondering “what the trigger is.” What Mrs. Pelosi is most scared of is bipartisanship because that would limit the tyrannical control she has exercised in order to browbeat, bribe and otherwise subvert taxpayers and cheat Americans of representational government. If she approved of this bill, she would no longer be able to ingratiate herself with segments of invasive illegals. This demonstrates another facet of how advocating and promoting illegal amnesty is dangerous to the Constitution, which Mrs. Pelosi generally ignores.
