ST. LOUIS | Adam Dunn of the Washington Nationals returned home Tuesday to be examined by the team physician after missing two games because of flulike symptoms.
Manager Jim Riggleman said Dunn, who struck out as a pinch-hitter in both games against St. Louis, could return to the lineup as soon as Wednesday at home against the Mets. Riggleman said Dunn was not feeling well and was also having a minor surgical procedure done “that’s of no significance.”
Dunn was batting .252 with nine homers and 19 RBIs and was among the league leaders with 24 walks. Adam Kennedy started at first base in place of Dunn.
