WASHINGTON (AP) — White House party crashers Michaele and Tareq Salahi were stopped in a limo near the White House Wednesday evening, Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said Thursday.

President Obama was hosting a state dinner Wednesday in honor of Mexico’s president.

Mr. Donovan said the Salahis’ limousine drove through a red light and signaled to turn into a restricted area. The vehicle was stopped by a Secret Service uniformed officer.

The limo driver was ticketed for running a red light.

The Salahis have been under investigation for attending Mr. Obama’s first state dinner for India’s prime minister last November even though they were not on a guest list.

The couple has landed a part on the Bravo reality show “The Real Housewives of D.C.”
