NEW YORK (AP) - The Outer Critics Circle is calling “The Book of Mormon” the season’s best musical, “War Horse” best play and “Anything Goes” best musical revival.

Mark Rylance in “Jerusalem” edged out Al Pacino for best actor in a drama, while there was a tie between Nina Arianda in “Born Yesterday” and Frances McDormand in “Good People” for the top actress award Sunday.

Sutton Foster in “Anything Goes” won as best actress in a musical and Josh Gad took home the actor prize in “The Book of Mormon,” which also won the direction award.

The Cole Porter romp “Anything Goes” netted Kathleen Marshall the best choreographer prize. Outstanding set design went to Neil Murray for “Brief Encounter.”

The circle is made up of writers and commentators who cover New York theater.
