PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Archie Comics is celebrating its 70th year publishing comic books by focusing the next issue of its flagship "Archie Comics" on childhood cancer and donating the profit from it to the Ronald McDonald House New York.
The Mamaroneck (muh-MAHR'-uh-nek), N.Y.-based publisher has been telling the tales of forever teenagers Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie and others since 1941.
It said Monday that one character has a family member with cancer and may have to move so they can be near the hospital. But the gang bands together to provide help and get them a spot at the Ronald McDonald House so they won't have to leave Riverdale for good.
Publisher and co-CEO Jon Goldwater says the profits from issue No. 625 will go to the real life house in New York.
