Md. shooting threat suspect released to parents

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) – A Crofton man accused of referring to himself as "a joker" and threatening to shoot up his workplace has been released from a psychiatric facility to his parents.

A Prince George's County mental health court judge released 28-year-old Neil E. Prescott to the custody of his parents on Tuesday. Mr. Prescott was ordered to continue taking medication and attend counseling while he awaits arraignment.

Prince George's State's Attorney's Office spokesman John Erzen said he can only leave his parents' house for medical or legal appointments.

Mr. Prescott has been charged with one count of telephone misuse.

Police say on July 27, Mr. Prescott threatened to load his guns and shoot up his workplace. Police say they found large quantities of ammunition and about two dozen weapons in his apartment.
