BAGHDAD — An Iraqi official says Syrian rebels have taken over a border crossing along the countries’ northern frontier.

Ninevah province governor Atheel al-Nujaifi says the rebels forced out Syrian authorities from the crossing at the Iraqi town of Rabiya on Saturday afternoon.

The seizure marks the second border crossing with Iraq that rebels have seized from the Syrian government in as many days.

On Thursday, rebels also took control of the border crossing near the Iraqi town of Qaim.
