LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Coulter tweet does GOP a disservice

In an apparent response to negative critiques of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's debate performance Monday night, conservative pundit Ann Coulter tweeted that she approved of "Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard" ("Ann Coulter directs slur at Obama after debate," Web, Tuesday). Really, Miss Coulter?

Like the president or not, agree with his policies or not, Miss Coulter's attack on President Obama was disrespectful and un-American. She needs to sit down and be quiet if this is the sort of thing she has to say. It's time for Republicans to speak out and be counted. It's time to show some GOP guts and courage.
