Story Topics

A Montgomery County police officer is in stable condition Wednesday after being hit by a car while standing outside his cruiser in Germantown, police said.

Officer Fabio Chung was treated and released from an area hospital Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the department.

The incident occurred at 5:15 p.m., when a vehicle traveling southbound on I-270 slid off the entrance ramp from Route 118, according to the release. Officer Chung, who was off-duty at the time, was in the area and responded.

Officer Chung was outside his police cruiser when another vehicle slid on the road, striking him, according to the press release. Neither driver was injured.

The cars slid off the road because of a mixture of a slippery substance and rainwater on the ramp, the report said.
