Debbie Wasserman Schultz re-elected DNC chair

Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is "humbled" that she has been reelected to a second term as chair of the Democratic Party.

Speculation arose months ago about Ms. Schultz's performance, with reports of President Obama's advisers saying she appeared too partisan and outspoken. The rumors were squelched last month, however, when the president tweeted that he asked Ms. Schultz to continue a second term.

The congresswoman was easily reelected by the Democratic National Committee officials at their meeting in Washington on Wednesday, with no "nays" uttered in the silent hotel ballroom. In her acceptance speech she referenced Mr. Obama's words from Monday's inauguration.

"The president has laid out our vision," she said. "We must give him the tools to succeed. That is our job."

The newly re-elected chair tweeted, "Today I proudly accepted the nomination to stay on as DNC chair—to continue what we do best: out-work and out-organize our way to victory."
