United Press International reports the Kentucky Republican as hoping Mr. Obama would "take a bipartisan approach rather than delivering another divisive partisan speech." Mr. Obama is set to speak on immigration policy a high school in Las Vegas Tuesday afternoon.
The White House says Mr. Obama would focus on the "need to fix the broken system so that it is fairer," UPI reported.
This is not the first time Mr. McConnell has publicly condemned Mr. Obama's partisan style of speech. Five days ago, Mr. McConnell criticized the president's "far-left agenda" for debt solutions and his "vision of an all-powerful government," as reported by Seth McLaughlin in The Washington Times. And on Jan. 13, ABC reported Mr. McConnell telling Mr. Obama to "get serious" on the economy.
