Like the president, Mr. Moniz has publicly expressed support for an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy that promotes renewable energy such as wind and solar power while also recognizing that oil and natural gas will remain a part of the mix.

Such a position may be realistic, but it’s not especially popular within the environmental movement.

“We urge Mr. Moniz to prioritize clean, renewable energy as climate solutions over destructive fossil fuels. … We would stress to Mr. Moniz that an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy policy only means more of the same,” said Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club.
