BERRYVILLE, Va. (AP) - Berryville police have identified a man who was found dead at the bottom of a cistern.
Police Chief Neal White tells The Winchester Star (https://bit.ly/12nqQHH ) that 61-year-old Kenneth Couch’s death is being investigated as an accident.
Couch was last seen around 7 p.m. Saturday. He was found on Sunday by a neighbor participating in a search for him.
The cistern is in the backyard of a home where Couch lived with his mother. It’s about 13 feet deep.
White says the house was built in 1853. He says there’s no way to determine the cistern’s age.
