CARMEL, Ind. (AP) - Bridgestone Americas plans on moving some 400 jobs from a suburban Indianapolis office to the new company headquarters it is building in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bridgestone says it will consolidate staff from its Firestone building and industrial products operations in Carmel and other units in Illinois to the new 30-story tower in Nashville.
The Carmel mayor’s office tells The Indianapolis Star (https://indy.st/1v2KaXd) it is sorry to see the Bridgestone operations leave, but that many of the other corporate offices in the city have been hiring workers in recent months.
Tennessee officials and the Japanese tire maker announced plans for the Nashville tower on Tuesday. The tower is expected to be completed in 2017 and house more than 1,700 employees, including 600 jobs coming from other states.
