COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A judge in central Ohio has sentenced a 28-year-old man to nine years in prison for killing his 4-year-old son by hitting him in the chest.

The Columbus Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1E3T3BX ) reports that Alfred Hill of Reynoldsburg was sentenced Wednesday in Columbus. He entered an Alford plea to one count of involuntary manslaughter. That means he didn’t admit guilt but conceded that prosecutors have enough evidence to convict him.

Prosecutors say Hill’s son, also named Alfred Hill, was found unconscious by paramedics at his aunt’s apartment on the morning of July 12, 2012. He died later a hospital.

A prosecutor says the man struck the boy in the chest, stopping his heart.
