SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - Three features of Schenectady’s Central Park will be overhauled after the park received $1.3 million in funding.
The Daily Gazette of Schenectady reports (https://bit.ly/1hsW8Vb ) improvements will be made to the park’s music stage, a baseball field and tennis courts.
Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy said the decision to use the funds on these specific projects was to provide a wide range of options for kids.
State budget money allocated for project proposals will bring in $1 million, while the remaining $300,000 will come from the city of Schenectady and the United States Tennis Association.
The currently unplayable “A’’ diamond will be completely redone. The Music Haven Stage will gain permanent seating, a terraced hillside and increased stage security. Ten tennis courts will be completely remodeled and seven will be repaired.
