FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - An official says Fort Wayne police have shot a suspect in a robbery at a dollar store.

The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette and WANE-TV report the suspect who was identified as 43-year-old Anthony Gant of Fort Wayne was taken to a hospital Sunday night in critical condition and remained in critical condition on Monday.

Fort Wayne police spokesman Officer Michael Joyner says the suspect was shot by police in the parking lot in front of the store.



According to Joyner, another suspect in the robbery fled the scene and was apprehended by police nearby.

Joyner says a store employee and a customer who were tied up during the robbery were not hurt.

Three officers have been placed on paid administrative leave following the shooting.
