BOSTON (AP) - Part of Route IA in East Boston that is a major route to Logan International Airport has reopened after daylong utility repairs following an accident.
Boston police said a pickup truck struck a utility pole and brought down power lines at about 4 a.m. Sunday. Another car then hit the wreckage. No one was injured.
The pickup driver, a 41-year-old Revere man, has been charged with drunken driving.
The road was closed in both directions between Boardman Street near Suffolk Downs and the Bell Circle rotary in Revere. It reopened at about 4 p.m.
The closing snarled traffic Sunday as drivers were rerouted around it.
