MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Postal workers are planning to gather at the post office in Manchester to protest service cutbacks and call for protecting jobs.

Members of the American Postal Workers Union are gathering Thursday afternoon as part of a National Day of Action by postal workers and supporters.

The union’s contract with the U.S. Postal Service is set to expire on May 20. The union is asking for extended hours at post offices to shorten customers’ wait time in line and an end to the closure of mail sorting centers, among other demands.
