LAS VEGAS (AP) - Hundreds of people marched and waved placards in downtown Las Vegas as part of an international day of protests against agriculture giant Monsanto.
Participants in Saturday’s event told KLAS-TV of Las Vegas (https://bit.ly/1IYcTS0 ) they’re against the sale of genetically modified foods known as GMOs and they want companies to label foods properly.
The group GMO Free Vegas organized the march and a festival to educate the public about GMOs.
The group also is working with schools in the Clark County School District by growing gardens to teach children about organic foods.
Monsanto issued a statement saying it realizes people have different points of view about food and agriculture, and it’s committed to having an open dialogue about the issues.
