DENVER (AP) - The University of Denver lacrosse team is back home with its first national NCAA title.
The players arrived in Colorado carrying their trophy off the plane after beating Maryland 10-5 on Monday. The Pioneers are the first non-East Coast team to win a national title in the sport.
The school plans to celebrate the milestone at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on campus at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The victory gave head coach Bill Tierney his record seventh title. He won six while coaching Princeton.
