DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A Houston County jury has found a Newville man not guilty of seven counts of attempted murder in connection with a shooting outside a local nightclub.

The Dothan Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1LlpiMO) a jury found Jalyn Rashad Salter not guilty Tuesday, citing insufficient evidence. He was represented by attorneys Adam Parker and John White.

Dothan police arrested Salter on the attempted murder charges in June. A police statement says the charges stemmed from officers responding to reports of a disorderly person May 31 at the Seven Sisters Lounge. Upon arriving, officers say the crowd was dispersing when gunshots were fired. One of the bullets struck the passenger door of a patrol car.

Five of the victims were police officers. Two others were employees of the business. No one was injured.
