STONINGTON, Maine (AP) - U.S. Coast Guard officials say salvage operators have successfully raised fishing boat that sank off the coast of Stonington, Maine.
Authorities say the 42-foot Marley Gabriella sank in about 70 feet of water Friday at its mooring ball. No one was aboard the boat when it went under, but officials were concerned about possible leakage of 700 gallons of diesel fuel aboard the ship.
Coast Guard Lt. David Bourbeau said the ship was raised Saturday afternoon and towed to Billings Marina for repairs. The cause of the sinking is still under investigation, he said.
Bourbeau said no injuries or significant pollution were reported.
He says Maine Marine Patrol and the state Department of Environmental Protection also monitored the salvage operation.
