HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Police in Hoover arrested a man they say caused a wreck that killed one person and injured four others.

Local news media report that a silver Chevrolet Cruze was traveling north in the southbound lanes of the interstate and hit a Honda Accord around 3:45 a.m. Sunday. The Honda was then hit by a black Chevrolet Cruze.

Police say the man who caused the wreck fled on foot, but police found him. Police were withholding his name pending formal charges.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday said 34-year-old Crystal Lavonne Ponder, a passenger in the Honda, was killed. Her husband, who was driving, and her young son were seriously injured.

The driver and a passenger in the black Cheverolet suffered minor injuries.
