ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers have suspended the search for member of the Alaska National Guard who disappeared on a mountain hike beginning in south Anchorage.
Troopers say six days of searching has found no clues to the whereabouts of 26-year-old Nephi Soper.
Anchorage police last week said Soper was last seen Feb. 18 wearing military-issue clothing by a taxi driver at the Flat Top Trailhead.
He planned to hike north and eventually exit from Arctic Valley Road onto Fort Richardson to attend training.
Teams with dogs Wednesday searched near the Prospect Heights Trailhead. A trooper helicopter searched from the air.
The Alaska Air National Guard, Army National Guard helicopter, Alaska Mountain Rescue Group and Nordic Ski Patrol also searched for Soper.
