EVERETT, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say human remains were found on National Grid property in Everett after utility workers discovered a skull at the site.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s Office says employees discovered the skull at around 11 a.m. Thursday.

State police searched the area and later recovered a skeleton near the spot where the skull was found.

Officials say police found the rest of the body and it was relatively intact. A preliminary investigation indicates the body is female and had been there for at least a year.

Ryan’s office says the death appears to be suspicious. The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct further testing on the remains. The investigation is ongoing.
