PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Maine is celebrating the latest group of naturalized U.S. citizens.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is holding the naturalization ceremony Friday for 24 new citizens in Portland. Keynote remarks will be made by Mayor Ethan Strimling, and the Portland Police Honor Guard is presenting the colors.
The event at City Hall coincides with World Refugee Day.
The 24 new citizens come from nine countries including Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
