GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Officials are investigating after hundreds of dead fish were found washed ashore on a beach in Gulfport.

WLOX-TV reports (https://bit.ly/25neVs9) Department of Marine Resource officials say the menhaden or pogie fish were discovered on the beach just west of the Island View Casino on Wednesday night.

DMR officials are not describing the incident as a fish kill, and plan to further investigate the situation Thursday morning.

Officials say they haven’t received any other reports of fish washing up on the beach.
