WAYNE, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey school district is joining parents in challenging a ruling that removed a high school football team from the state playoffs.
Wayne Hills had been scheduled to face Roxbury in the playoffs on Friday.
The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association vacated its wins after the district reported the team used three players, who are brothers, who didn’t have a bona fide change of address and never sat out 30 days after transferring to the school.
The board of education and administration on Wednesday said they’re joining an appeal of that ruling.
An attorney for one of the families says he hopes to have a hearing with an administrative law judge on Thursday.
NJSIAA officials say their actions follow what they’ve done in the past.
