COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Obama Foundation is hosting a leadership training event in South Carolina this weekend.
The foundation is putting on a boot camp event for its Community Leadership Corps program in Columbia. Organizers say the six-month program is designed to bring together motivated young people who want to become civic leaders.
In June, the group held a two-day kick-off event in Columbia. Participants did trainings designed to help them develop skills for organizing, engaging in community dialogues and formulate plans to complete projects.
During the boot camp, participants are coming back together to get feedback on their plans and more specific training
Other Community Leaderships Corps boot camps are taking place this month in Phoenix and Chicago.
