Neighbors of NBC “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother are reporting disrespectful behavior near her Arizona home as interest in her disappearance grows, according to news outlets.

Outsiders have descended on the streets near Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson home, leaving residents feeling “on edge,” the president of the neighborhood homeowners association said in a newsletter.

Gestures such as neighbors tying yellow ribbons in front of their homes have been well-received, but many outside visitors have engaged in “disrespectful” behavior, said Will Pew, president of the Catalina Foothills Association.

The homeowners group is asking well-wishers to stop leaving flowers at Nancy Guthrie’s home and instead donate to World Vision, a charity she supported.

Authorities have been investigating Ms. Guthrie’s disappearance as an abduction. The 84-year-old was last seen on Jan. 31 and was reported as missing the next day.

Savannah Guthrie posted an Instagram tribute on Mother’s Day, writing that her family will “never stop looking” for her mom and urging anyone with information about her disappearance to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.

The Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.
