The Prince George’s County Police Department issued a lookout for Gary. He was spotted driving a wanted Toyota Camry crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The Delaware River and Bay police initiated a pursuit that ended in Wilmington, said Wilmington Police Department Police Chief Michael J. Szczerba.

Gary’s car collided with two vehicles, and the suspect fled on foot. When confronted by several officers, Gary stood in a vacant lot and held a gun to his head, threatening suicide, according to police.

At one point, he lowered his weapon toward police officers and shots were fired by Gary and two Wilmington police officers, officials said.

Gary was pronounced dead at the scene.
