JERUSALEM (AP) - Israeli police have identified the person who opened fire at a police station Saturday before she was shot and killed as a 16-year-old Bedouin girl from a town inside Israel.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says the attacker was an 11th-grade student from the Israeli Bedouin township of Hura, not far from the site of the attack in southern Israel. He gave her name as Basma Awad al-Nabari.

Rosenfeld said Sunday that al-Nabari used a pistol to shoot at policemen, who returned fire and killed her. Police believe the attack was planned, but have released no further details.
