How did you get started in real estate? When it came time to buy my first home, seven months after I came to this county from Colombia, I didn’t speak English that well. I told my Realtor that I needed his help. I found out later that we were in a buyer’s market and he let me make a full price offer! The house had horrible carpet that we didn’t ask to have replaced, and we had no home inspection. I felt taken advantage of - I decided I could do a much better job helping people. It has been my goal to explain the process to my clients, especially those who could be vulnerable to be exploited.

Most memorable house: There was a house in Frederick County that was built at the end of the 1800s. It was tiny, like a dollhouse. There were two entrance doors, and I was told that back when this house was built, two entrance doors were added to allow the spirits who had died there to go in and out.
Describe your worst experience buying or selling a house: I am still in the middle of the worst transaction of my career. My buyer put in an offer for a short sale in April. Since two different banks owned the property, it became very complicated. After going back and forth a few times with changing closing dates and canceled settlements, my poor buyer has run out of patience and may walk away from this transaction out of pure frustration.
