BALTIMORE (AP) — The chairman of the Maryland Republican Party is stepping down following a no-confidence vote.
Dr. Jim Pelura issued a statement Monday saying he had submitted his resignation. The move follows a July no-confidence vote by leaders of the state Republican Party.
Party leaders have accused Pelura of criticizing elected Republicans and becoming involved in policy matters instead of raising money and registering voters.
Pelura had previously said he would not step down.
