Five luxurious homes will be built by the Barrett Cos. within the Potomac Crest community in Arlington, Va., each an example of a masterful mix of rich architectural details, high-quality building materials, and “green” building features that meet the standards of the Arlington Green Home Choice Program and qualify under the Energy Star and National Association of Home Builders Green Homes certification programs.

Set on a quiet cul-de-sac above Chain Bridge, two of the homes have been built, one of which serves as the model home. Interested buyers can place a contract on the remaining lots if they prefer to build an entirely customized residence, anticipated to be complete in August.

Realtor Sharon Chamberlin of McEnearney Associates says buyers can work with the builder’s bank for financing, locking in a loan rate of 3 7/8 percent interest for the first five years of a 30-year, fixed-rate loan with a rate of 5 7/8 for the remaining 25 years. This loan program requires a 10 percent down payment.

The three to-be-built homes are base-priced from $1,999,000 to $2,049,000. The home at 4003 N. Richmond St., which is under construction, is base-priced at $2,148,400, including some options that already have been chosen. Additional options may still be available. The model home, at 4001 N. Richmond St., has three finished levels and is priced at $2,133,130.

The homes, each a Kensington model, include as standard features four bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, high ceilings on all three levels, hardwood flooring throughout the main level, dormers, transoms, pocket doors, ceiling medallions, crown and chair-rail moldings, oak stairs, and state-of-the-art wiring.

Each kitchen includes a professional-quality, six-burner gas range, double ovens, raised-panel cabinets, granite counters, recessed lighting and a center island. The master bath has marble flooring, a whirlpool tub, a marble shower and two separate sinks plus a makeup vanity. The secondary baths have ceramic tile flooring. The homes have four sides of brick or stone, energy-efficient windows and concrete driveways.

High-tech features in the home include wireless Internet, multiroom audio systems, a surround-sound system for the family room, a recreation room surround-sound system, a front door camera and intercom, and alarm systems. More than 165 trees were saved at Potomac Crest during site preparation, and another 45 were planted. Green features in the homes include foam insulation, caulking to minimize air filtration, upgraded insulation, energy-efficient windows, Energy Star appliances, a central vacuum system, and an energy-efficient heating and cooling system.

The model home has a formal foyer with marble flooring; random-width, wide-plank red oak floors on the main level, the upper level hall and master suite; a formal living room; a formal dining room; and an oversized office with built-in bookcases and cabinets and high-tech wiring. The main level also has a gourmet kitchen with an adjacent breakfast room that opens to the family room and a wet bar.

Upstairs, the master suite includes a dressing area, two walk-in closets, a whirlpool tub and an oversized walk-in shower with multiple showerheads. Three additional bedrooms, one with a private full bath and two that share a connecting bath, are upstairs. In addition, this level has a laundry room with ceramic tile flooring.

The finished lower level includes a recreation room, a fireplace, a wet bar, a fourth bedroom, a fourth full bath and an exercise room.
