EAST LANSING, MICH. (AP) - The Michigan State Spartans are honoring coach Mark Dantonio by wearing the letter D on the backs of their helmets.
Dantonio was hospitalized because of a heart attack shortly after leading Michigan State to an overtime win over Notre Dame last weekend. The No. 25 Spartans are hosting Northern Colorado this weekend.
Offensive coordinator Don Treadwell is coaching Michigan State in Dantonio's absence. Dantonio was released from the hospital Tuesday and surprised the Spartans by visiting practice Friday. He planned to watch Saturday's game from home.
