WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say one person has been killed and several others have been injured after a tree fell on a pickup truck in northwest Washington amid a strong snowstorm.

D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says the tree fell on the truck on Military Road about 7 p.m. Wednesday, trapping five people inside. He says one was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and several others were injured.

D.C. police spokeswoman Istmania Bonilla says an adult male has died in the accident. Bonilla did not identify the man, pending notification of his family members.
