MIAMI (AP) - Shortstop Alex Gonzalez left the Atlanta Braves' game at Florida with a strained right calf, and his status is day to day.
Gonzalez first hurt himself Sunday, then aggravated the injury running the bases in the sixth inning Tuesday, manager Fredi Gonzalez said. Alex Gonzalez limped off the field when he was replaced by a pinch-runner.
"It got a little bit worse, and we didn't want to take a chance," Fredi Gonzalez said. "We don't think it's major."
He said his shortstop might miss only one start. Alex Gonzalez is hitting .241 with 15 homers, including one in the second inning Tuesday.
