Rep. Robert L. Turner, New York Republican, criticized the State Department for delaying action on removing the dissidents from the terrorist list.

“Our own State Department’s thinking on this is muddled and unclear and mincing and weak,” he said.

Rep. Tom McClintock, California Republican, warned the Iraqi government against mistreating the dissidents: “The people of the United States are watching.”
