WILMINGTON, N.C. — Sherrod Wright led four George Mason players in double figures with 16 points and the Patriots defeated UNC Wilmington 75-69 on Saturday night.
George Mason (21-6, 13-2 Colonial Athletic Association) shot 51.8 percent from the field (29 of 56) in their third straight win.
Ryan Pearson added 15 points, and Bryon Allen and Vertrail Vaughns chipped in 10 each for the Patriots.
George Mason scored 18 points off 16 turnovers and outscored the Seahawks 29-14 off the bench and 36-22 in the paint. The Patriots took control down low in the second half, outscoring UNC Wilmington 24-8 in the paint in the final 20 minutes.
Adam Smith scored 20 points to lead the Seahawks (9-16, 5-10), whose only lead was 2-1. Keith Rendleman and Trevor Deloach chipped in 14 points each for UNC Wilmington and Tanner Milson had 11.
