NEW YORK (AP) - An upcoming book about Jewish athletes has an all-star lineup.

Former White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers is taking on tennis star Harold Solomon. Best-selling author Steven Pinker’s subject is basketball coach Red Auerbach (OW’-er-bahk). And Booker Prize-winning novelist Howard Jacobson has picked pingpong legend Marty Reisman.

The book is called “Jewish Jocks.” It’s a collection of essays about Jews in the world of sports. It comes out in the fall.

Publisher Twelve announced Friday other contributors will include New Yorker editor David Remnick on Howard Cosell, “Friday Night Lights” author Buzz Bissinger on boxer Barney Ross and “Freakonomics” co-author Stephen Dubner on a baseball player who was hit in the head in his only major league at-bat.

Twelve is an imprint of the Hachette Book Group USA.
