The Smithsonian Folklife Festival will pay tribute to the “godfather of go-go” Chuck Brown on Saturday.
From 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. different performances and activities will be held in his honor in the Citified section, which celebrates the culture of Southeast Washington.
Activities include an hour-long workout to go-go music and performances by Cold Hearted Band, No Question Band, and Junkyard Band. His band members will also hold a discussion about his career, and a narrative stage session will reflect on the evolution of the music genre.
Brown was 75 when he died in May.
