HAGELIN: Pledge to resist Obama’s 2nd-term havoc

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Culture challenge of the week: Obama, et al. again

Anyone who has been through a terrible storm, like Hurricane Sandy, knows that one of the first tasks in the storm’s wake is to look at the landscape and assess the damage realistically.

So, too, for us, in the aftermath of Mitt Romney’s defeat in last week’s presidential election.

“Devastating.” “Unbelievable.” “It’s all over.” Those were the feelings of patriotic conservatives across America when the election results rolled in.

Devastating? Yes.

We know what the next four years will bring. Or at least we know the economic and moral havoc that President Obama has unleashed in the past four years, and we’ve got Mr. Obama’s word that we can expect more of the same. His acceptance speech warned he intends to “build on the progress we’ve made.”

We know “progress,” in his view, means our trillion-dollar deficits will climb still higher — and so will our taxes. We know, as Sen. Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, emphasized in the days after Mr. Obama’s victory, that Obama Democrats have only one solution to the money woes caused by gluttonous spending: higher taxes.

“The president campaigned around the country saying, ‘We know what the problems are with this fiscal problem. We just need some revenue,’” he said.

So Mr. Obama will claim a mandate to soak the rich — and our American families (rich or not) will pay the painful price of tax-fueled budgeting.

We know Mr. Obama’s open support for homosexual marriage fueled victories in Maryland, Washington state and Maine. And, in spite of liberal assurances to the contrary, homosexual “rights” do indeed create untenable situations. (Such as, according to inquisitr.com, a news website, the transgendered male who identifies as a woman but still has male genitalia and now has a “protected right” in Washington state to invade the women’s locker room and expose his unchanged genitals to young girls.)

And Planned Parenthood, which spent millions of dollars to re-elect Mr. Obama, will rely on the White House to “stimulate” its lethal business. We can expect a push for federally funded abortions under Obamacare. The “family planning” experts already are moving aggressively to manipulate young girls into using contraceptive implants, IUDs and emergency contraception — all without parental knowledge or consent.

When we abuse those freedoms, we will sow devastation — to ourselves, our families and our country. A society built on sexual license, economic envy and liberty-constricting government will not long stand. We have only to look back in history, to Rome, and across the ocean, to Europe, to see our future.

It’s not a pretty picture. It’s no wonder that some might be so frustrated by this crushing defeat that they feel like withdrawing from the battle and giving up. And it’s way too easy to feel bitter.
