Minister vows Falklands back in Argentina’s hands within 20 years

Argentina's foreign minister said Monday he will bring forth a "diplomatic package" that United Kingdom governing officials couldn't refuse and that within 20 years, Britain will relinquish ownership of the Falkland Islands.

Argentina was an "incomplete country" without the islands, said Hector Timerman, The Telegraph reported.

"I don't think it will take another 20 years," he reportedly said. "I think that the world is going through a process of understanding more and more that this is a colonial issue. ... We don't support the occupation of foreign lands and the Malvinas case is the occupation of a foreign land."

Falkland Island officials have raised the hackles of Argentina by promising a referendum in March upholding its allegiance to Britian, The Telegraph reported.

Mr. Timerman said the vote didn't matter, The Telegraph reported.
