Clinton confirms memoir, fueling talk of White House run

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton fueled rumors of a 2016 presidential run again, when she confirmed her post-office plans include sleep — and writing a book.

At a global town hall meeting on Tuesday, during which she answered questions from around the world, Mrs. Clinton said she was definitely writing another memoir, but that she didn't "know what I will say in it yet," according to a BuzzFeed report. Mrs. Clinton's first memoir, "Living History," was published in 2003.

The announcement isn't entirely surprising. Presidential historian Douglas Brinkley guessed on CNN a week ago that she would "work on a memoir" and "give speeches," The Huffington Post reported. As the New York Times reported in 2007, though, such book deals often come in prelude to a run for higher office.

"For candidates, writing a book is a way to make money, build gravitas and grab media attention," the paper wrote then. "They can also use a memoir as a dumping ground for past unpleasantries, paving the way for the campaign-trail line, 'I addressed that in my book.' "
