MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont group that promotes renewable energy says it can support new power lines running through the state to southern New England - with conditions.

Renewable Energy Vermont issued a position paper on Monday saying that the state should push to build a “green energy corridor.”

REV, as the group is known, says Vermont should require that the new power lines carry only renewable energy, and that its developers should be required to support in-state renewable energy programs and projects.

The group says good policy around the power lines should help Vermont reach its energy goals.
